We hypothesized that yeast which were used to ferment alcoholic beverages would stay as live colonies within the nano-pores of ancient vessels. 

To test that, we and our dear collaborators, Michael Klutstein, the archaeologist Aren Meir (BIU), Yuval Gadot (TAU) and Itzik Paz (Isaraeli Antiquity Authority), the beer master Itay Gutman and Amir Szitenberg (Dead sea and Arava R&D) are isolating, characterizing and finally producing the ancient beers.
